Sand as an Art Form

It seems more than appropriate to post this odds & ends today, July 4.  The sand sculpture on the right is the work of Versailles, Ky,  international award winning sand artist, Damon Farmer.  Every 4th of July, the City of Berea commissions him to do a sculpture as part of the city's holiday celebration.  Please believe me, the pictures don't do this work justice.  The detail...the size...the artistry...  Amazing, even in an unfinished state!  Below are other pictures of this piece, shot on the 3rd and this morning, the 4th.  Each has a clickable link to a medium size image and a larger one for those with faster connections.

Damon is far more than a sand artist.  You can check his website here for additional work, as well as pictures of some of his award winning sand sculptures.
