Wood

My first whetstone

My father taught me to sharpen a knife when I was six years old, but he had no way of knowing that he was altering the course of my life. For the next 40 plus years, wood was a hobby, then a vocation. I burned out in 1994 and haven't carved since. My first knife is long lost, but I still have the broken stone on which I learned and the memory of the blade against it.
